The Unpleasant Business of Tracking Death

So the image below would be a wonderful chart if it was portraying a company’s sales increases or tracking the price of a company’s stock. Unfortunately this chart is tracking something far more sinister, though, heroin overdose deaths in the U.S. through 2014. That’s right, sinister: that which suggests a general or vague feeling of fear or apprehension on the part of the observer. Sadly this chart will only get worse as the statistics from 2015, 2106 and 2017 are added. If there were any questions left in your mind regarding the severity of the situation, please just reflect upon this chart. Focus on the severity of the incline of the last few years and the knowledge that this trend is showing no signs of slowing. The problem is real, the crisis is upon us and the time for action is now.
